How to Throw a Halloween Party Sweet Kickin Salsa Style
It’s time to start planning your annual Halloween party—or your first annual Halloween party! Whether you throw the parties your neighbors wish they could, or you’re throwing your first Halloween party since college, Sweet Kickin Salsa has you covered with ideas for the three most important parts of any legendary party!
Planning Your Halloween Party with Sweet Kickin Salsa
Here is our list of everything you need to throw an awesome Halloween party:
Decor
We like to keep it simple when it comes to decorations. Whatever you already have in your house for Halloween will work for a Halloween party! If you want to go all-out, add some decorative gourds around the main room where you’ll be hosting your party and use paper garlands in seasonal colors to draw attention to important sections of the room, like the snack table and dance floor.
Food & Drinks
When it comes to party foods, we prefer small snacks. They’re convenient, easy to serve, and give your guests an opportunity to try a lot of different flavors! Try to hit all the main flavor notes—sweet, salty, spicy and creamy—to put together a good spread.
Some of our favorite snackable options include rice crispy squares with Halloween candies mixed in, pretzels and a creamy beer cheese dip, mini quesadillas, bacon-wrapped jalapenos stuffed with cream cheese, prosciutto-wrapped figs, mixed nuts, chopped vegetables, baked brie wrapped in puff pastry, and chopped apples with caramel.
There’s no way to go wrong, just load up your spread with any, or all, of these delicious foods and add a big bowl of chips next to your favorite salsa (Sweet Kickin Salsa, of course!) to really pull the whole buffet table together.
For drinks, you can’t beat a margarita! Make your own margarita mix by combining 1 cup of water and ½ cup of sugar on the stove, heat until the sugar dissolves, then take it off the burner and add 1 cup of fresh-squeezed lime juice (about ten limes or 8 oz of the stuff from the little squeeze bottles). Build a margarita with this mix by salting the rim of a glass, then add one shot of tequila, ½ shot of triple sec, ice, and 2-4 ounces of margarita mix (depending on how strong you want it). If you want to get extra spooky, add ¼ teaspoon of activated charcoal to each drink to make black margaritas without affecting their flavor.
Activities
Similar to Halloween party decorations, we like to keep activities low-key. Dancing is always fun, and you can turn it into a contest if you want to! If your party includes kids, pick up some Halloween craft kits, coloring books or decorative skulls that can be painted and bedazzled—maybe also do this if there won’t be kids at the party? We kind of want every Halloween party to end with everyone taking home their very own festive bedazzled skull!
With the right combination of décor, food, drinks, and activities to keep everyone entertained, you’re on the way to hosting one of the best Halloween parties in your neighborhood!
